Well, I plan on going through David’s Bridal to find my
wedding dress, or get my dress at a discount bridal shop, or some such place.
So I don’t think I am going to stress out about finding a dress super early.
Plus, a lot of experts say to give a bridal shop/seamstress at least 4 months from
ordering the dress so alterations can be done.
To play it safe, I think I’m going to start wedding dress shopping in July of 2012. That’s 9 months before our date, and gives me
plenty of time to shop around and find THE dress. As an avid watcher of Say Yes
to the Dress, I know how important it is for a bride to feel ‘bridal’ in her
wedding dress, and to KNOW it is the one she wants.
My problem is I’m afraid I don’t know what I want! I want the wedding to have a vintage feel to
it, and I love the look of tea length gowns.
I love this dress, Maya, by Michelle
Roth.
The things I love about this dress are the length, and the
poofy-ness of the skirt.
Actually, it would definitely be too poofy if it was full length (see below about ball gowns). But it's not, so I like it! I’m not the biggest fan of sleeveless though (arm fat, anybody? So gross.)
One of my favorite necklines for a vintage flair dress is
the sweetheart + halter look. I will admit, I fell in love with this look in a
Grey’s Anatomy episode.
Don’t like the rest of the dress though.
Something I KNOW I won’t want is a mermaid style, or fit n
flair. I do not want my curves accentuated!
I am just not attractive enough for this.
On the other hand, I also definitely do not want a full length ball gown. I
think ball gown dresses have a tendency to make large ladies look larger. So, I
think A-line, or some variation, might be for me:
I love the ruching on this A-line!
Don't like the train though
Side note: I definitely want a veil like the one above.
While finding photos for this post, I came across this
number, that is A-line and has a sweetheart-ish halter combo:
But I don’t like it!
So, I may be back to “I have no idea what I want.” But hey, that's what trying on a billion dresses is for!
